Why the Bearing Surface Matters

A foundation is only as sound as the ground under it. An uneven or over-excavated bottom that gets loosely backfilled will settle, and that settlement telegraphs straight into a cracked slab or wall. We dig to plan depth, keep the bearing surface undisturbed, and compact any correction fill so the footing lands on solid support.
